太いパイプ状の棘を持った南方系のウニ。四国西南地域では主に外海に面した波あたりのやや強い場所に見られるが個体数は多くない。棘を突っ張り棒のように使ってガッチリと穴にはまり込んでいる。（中地 シュウ）
